Arctic

When studying the arctic this winter i turned our sensory table into an arctic zone. I covered the sensory table with aluminum foil before hand, then filled the table with snow from outside (if you live in a state without snow, just freeze some water in large bowls to make icebergs!) I chose to add blue water into the table too so that the snow melted a little and turned into a slushy consistency. It was so much fun!
Another fun thing to do is make large icebergs (freeze water in large bowls overnight) and add salt to the sensory table... experiment which iceberg melts first. Salt vs no salt.

Wax paper ice skates
A fun inside activity to do in the winter is to make wax paper ice skates.
This activity only works on  carpet. Take off the children's shoes and wrap wax paper around their feet...secure with a rubber band and go skating!
