Germs

Last year we had the Oakland County Health Department come visit our classroom to talk to us about germs. This was a free service through the county. She told us a fun story about germs and taught the children how to correctly wash their hands. We saw photos of germs and then she did a really cool experiment with baby powder. She put the powder on her hand and pretended to sneeze. The power was the "germs" and we couldn't see them (very well) then the lady shook hands with a child from my class and showed us how we passed germs to our friends using a black light. The powder showed up bright purple on the children's hands. It was such a good demonstration. After that day our children are constantly washing the germs off their hands!
